Safari Overview
This 7-day semi-luxury safari is a well-paced Northern Circuit journey for travelers who want more time in the parks and a more relaxed rhythm each day. This itinerary balances excellent wildlife viewing with comfort and smooth travel days.
Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 1: Arusha – Tarangire National Park
In the morning, your driver-guide will pick you up from Arusha and drive to Tarangire National Park. Upon arrival, enjoy a game drive through the park’s savannah and river areas, where wildlife often gathers for water.
Tarangire is well known for large elephant herds, but you may also see giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, buffalo, and predators that follow the herds. Later in the afternoon, continue to your semi-luxury lodge or tented camp for dinner and overnight.
Main Destination: Tarangire National Park
Day 2: Tarangire – Serengeti National Park
After breakfast, depart toward Serengeti National Park via the Ngorongoro highlands. The drive offers beautiful scenery as you pass through changing landscapes from rural countryside to highland views.
Once inside Serengeti, you will begin a game drive while heading toward your accommodation. Wildlife sightings often start immediately, with chances to see giraffes, elephants, zebras, and large herds of grazers. Arrive at your semi-luxury camp in time for dinner and overnight.
Main Destination: Serengeti National Park
Day 3: Full Day Game Drives in Serengeti
Today is dedicated to Serengeti’s famous wildlife. After breakfast, head out for a full day game drive across plains, kopjes, and key wildlife areas based on the season.
You may encounter lions resting or on the move, cheetahs scanning for prey, and hyenas trailing the herds. With full-day flexibility, your guide can spend more time where wildlife activity is strongest, making the day feel unhurried and rewarding.
Return to camp in the evening for dinner and overnight.
Main Destination: Serengeti National Park
Day 4: Another Full Day in Serengeti
A second full day in Serengeti gives you the chance to explore different areas and follow wildlife movements more closely. Your guide will tailor the day to maximize sightings, whether focusing on predator territories, river areas, or open plains.
This additional Serengeti time increases your chances of seeing memorable moments, from hunting behavior to large herds moving through the landscape. Return to camp for dinner and overnight.
Main Destination: Serengeti National Park
Day 5: Serengeti – Ngorongoro Conservation Area
After breakfast, enjoy a morning game drive in Serengeti before beginning the journey to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. As you travel, the scenery transitions from wide plains into cooler highland landscapes.
Arrive in the Ngorongoro area in the afternoon and settle into your lodge, with time to relax and enjoy the highland atmosphere before the crater safari the next day.
Main Destination: Ngorongoro Conservation Area
Day 6: Ngorongoro Crater Game Drive
After an early breakfast, descend into the Ngorongoro Crater for a game drive. The crater floor supports a high concentration of wildlife, often including lions, elephants, buffalo, zebras, wildebeest, hippos, and a variety of birds.
Because of the crater’s unique ecosystem, wildlife viewing is usually excellent, and with luck you may spot the rare black rhino. After a picnic lunch, continue the game drive before ascending the crater and heading to your accommodation for dinner and overnight.
